iPhone 3G in Japan: Winner or Loser

Apple iPhone 3G is now on the top of the mobile phone news around the world.

n Japan, where I am living right now, only one provider named "Softbank", the only one 3G provider in Japan got this piece of cake! And everyone keeps an eyes on what will happen in this coming 11th of July.

I expected that it is supposed to be the long line in front of the softbank shops and people tried to get it as a pioneer. And I guess that I will also be one of them.

However, if you look closer to the Japanese situation, they have their own CDMA providers that provide somewhat better phone than iPhone.

CDMA internet connection is faster than iPhone

CDMA phone has 5M pixels camera while iPhone has 2M camera

CDMA phone has High Definition TV functions while iPhone don't

CDMA phone also have touch screen as iPhone has

So why Japanese people still need iPhone for?

And why am I and others really want to get iPhone ASAP?

Is this so-called Apple-Mania? lol

Unlike other countries, Japan has unique characteristics of mobile phones and different system?

iPhone should reconsider the approach to Japanese market or not. This is the main question for the Apple Marketing department.
